After Andhra Pradesh division, CPI wants new state capital in Rayalaseema
KADAPA: The Communist Party of India (CPI) today said that after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the new capital should be established in the Rayalaseema region.

Kadapa CPI district secretary, Eswaraiah, made this demand while talking to reporters here.

"Rayalaseema region has been betrayed since 1953 and will be the most deprived region in the event of the state division," he said.

According to him, the region will lose 130 TMCFT (thousand million cubic feet) water from the Krishna river. "92 TMCFT assured water from river Krishna, has to be allocated to the ongoing projects like Telugu ganga, handri Neeva, Galeru-Nagiri, PABR and Veligonda to cater to the irrigation needs of the drought-prone districts," he said.

He urged the Centre to establish mineral-based industries, educational institutes and IT corridors to generate employment opportunities to the youth.
