Afghanistan to open Consul General’s office in Kolkata
This was stated by SM Ahmadi, Economic Counsellor of Afghanistan in a discussion with one of the city's chambers of commerce.

Ahmadi who was accompanied by his Deputy of the Foreigner’s Visa Section, Homayun Kamgar. disclosed that the country was looking to set up a Consul General’s Office in Kolkata's New Town by December 2015 during a meeting with the president of Merchant Chambers of Commerce and industry (MCCI), Arun K. Saraf. The focus areas of the Consulate General would be to promote closer relations with West Bengal and India education and skill development, bilateral trade and sharing in manufacture.
Ahmadi said he was interested in getting the proposed MoUs signed between MCCI and Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan as well as Balk Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Kabul.
