Afghanistan, Pakistan have 'new relationship': Karzai

Afghanistan and Pakistan have a "new relationship" which they hope will help them defeat terrorism and extremism.

KABUL: Afghanistan and Pakistan have a "new relationship" which they hope will help them defeat terrorism and extremism, President Hamid Karzai said Tuesday after talks with his Pakistan counterpart.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Kabul earlier in the day on his first official visit to Afghanistan since taking office in September, replacing Pervez Musharraf, with whom Karzai had difficult relations.

With Zardari at the helm, "Afghanistan and Pakistan have a new relationship," Karzai told a joint press conference after their meeting.
