Afghan students excel in Kerala
Nine students from Afghanistan, are excelling in various degree courses, taking advantage of the Indian initiative to develop the terror-ravaged nation.
That the students have successfully adjusted to various changes soon after arriving here has amused their local co-students and the management of the Farook College, where they are doing BBA and BA courses, alike.
"They are quite brilliant in studies and converse well in English. showing their willingness to learn by fully making use of the opportunity', College Principal A Kuttialikutty said.
Enjoying sponsorship from the Indian Council for Cultural Research, these students, who also cook their own food, feel proud to gain education in India, which they admire next only to their motherland.
"The educational set-up here is excellent and far better than what we have in our country. The number of educational institutions at the higher level in India cannot be dreamt of in our nation" says Mohammad Zakir Mustafa, a third year BBA student, who wants to come back to India to do his MBA.
"We are very careful to ensure that these students do not lose their direction in any manner other than gaining education, the purpose for which we have sponsored them', says ICCR Director M R Krishnamurthy.
One of the students who was recently offered placement by Nokia could not get ICCR clearance to take up the job, as that amounts to violating the Government directive.
