Atomic Energy Regulatory Board on Saturday said it had sent full information on the radiation problem in Delhi's Mayapuri locality.

MUMBAI: Atomic Energy Regulatory Board on Saturday said it had sent full information on the radiation problem in Delhi's Mayapuri locality and categorised it as level four on the International Nuclear and Radiation event Scale (IENS) denoting high radiation exposure to more than one person.

An AERB official said "the entire incident was reported to the International Atomic Energy Agency under Incident Reporting System (IRS) as per mandatory requirement of the global nuclear watchdog and Illicit Trafficking Data Base (ITDB) of the agency".

Further information will also be sent during the coming days as it is a common mandatory procedure, he said.

He also said India's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and AERB and Radiation Emergency Response System are in full strength to handle the situation.
