Advantage Cong in Haryana as BJP & INLD part ways

CHANDIGARH: BJP has severed ties with the Indian National Lok Dal and decided to go solo in the forthcoming Haryana assembly elections after INLD refused it equal number of seats in the forthcoming assembly elections. A three-way contest would certainly be advantageous to Congress.

Though BJP Haryana unit in-charge and general secretary Vijay Goel maintained that BJP will go it alone, sources in BJP said that the party is in talks with former CM Bhajan Lals Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC).

While addressing a press conference, BJP general secretary Vijay Goel said INLD took a tough stance on the seat-sharing pattern. INLD is ignorant of the ground realities. It did not adjust to the seat-sharing pattern. We have decided that we will be contesting all 90 seats. We will be announcing candidates shortly, said Mr Goel. He was evasive when asked on the possibility of a tie up with Haryana Janhit Congress.

Though senior Congress leaders consider this a bleak possibility, they admit that if BJP-HJC-BSP get into a pact, it could be a strong alliance. In the wake of the present developments, HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi is likely to address a press conference on Tuesday in Chandigarh.
