Advani among 359 candidates to test fate on Apr 30 from Gujarat

Campaigning for all the 26 Lak Sabha seats of Gujarat, that goes to polls on April 30 during the third phase elections, ended on Tuesday.

AHMEDABAD: Campaigning for all the 26 Lak Sabha seats of Gujarat, that goes to polls on April 30 during the third phase elections, ended on Tuesday.

BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani, who is contesting from Gandhinagar and three Union ministers - Shankarsinh Vaghela, Dinsha Patel and Naran Ratwa - will be in the fray. BJP's former union minister Harin Pathak is also part of 359 candidates.

Political parties campaigned extensively braving more than 43 degree temperature in the last few days here.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Gongress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi campaigned in the state in the last week.

BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani campaigned in his constituency for the last three days. BJP president Rajnath Singh also held poll rallies in the last week here.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi addressed 76 public meetings in last 14 days in the state.

Campaigning here was mired in controversy as a computer engineering student attempted to throw a shoe at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his first rally in Ahmedabad.
