ADMK holds protests in TN
AIADMK, the main opposition party in the state, held demonstrations across various towns and cities on Wednesday to protest chief minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi’s remarks against Lord Ram.
The party also moved the Madras High Court seeking to restrain the ruling DPA from going ahead with its state-wide Bandh on October 1 for the speedy implementation of the Sethusamudram Project.
Former chief minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa led the demonstration at Ooty, where she is camping at Kodanadu estate, while other party leaders led the protests. Talking to reporters, she charged Mr Karunanidhi with making ‘derogatory’ remarks against Lord Ram, unmindful of his constitutional responsibility.
The AIADMK leader urged the Centre to dismiss the DMK government for “violating the Constitution by hurting the sentiments of Hindus”. Ms Jayalalithaa also called for the removal of the DMK ministers from the Union Cabinet.
