Administrative bungling: 105 officials in CVC net
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has recommended action against 105 government officials for various administrative lapses, including graft charges, which resulted financial loss to the exchequer.
Based on the investigation reports submitted by the CBI and chief vigilance officers, the CVC advised the government to initiate action against these officials, including 21 from the Railways and 15 from public sector banks, who were posted in different parts of the country, official sources said.
The other officials include six from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, five each from the Delhi Development Authority and the ministry of urban development, four officers each from Central Board of Excise and Customs and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, three officers from IBP Balmer Lawrie Group of Companies, one each from the ministry of defence, and the ministry of external affairs, besides others.
The commission also advised imposition of major penalty against 43 officers, including 10 from the Railways, for committing different offences. They include six each from public sector banks and the DDA, four from insurance companies, three each from BSNL, Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Employees State Insurance Corporation, two from CBDT, one each from Department of Posts, MTNL, Mahanadi Coalfields .
The CVC also advised the government to launch prosecution against 21 officers, including five from ministry of information & broadcasting, facing graft charges.
Those against whom the sanctions were accorded include four officers from Central Board of Excise and Customs, three officers from Railways and ministry of home affairs, two officers each from CBDT, department of industrial policy and research and ministry of defence.
