Akhilesh Yadav has assured farmers, whose land was acquired for a township on Noida expressway, that adequate compensation would be paid to them.

AGRA: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has assured farmers, whose land was acquired for a township on Noida expressway, that adequate compensation would be paid to them.

The Chief Minister, during a visit to Chhalesar near Agra yesterday, assured the farmers, who have been demanding the cancellation of the JP Township project on Noida expressway, that compensation six times the current circle rates would be paid to them.

He also assured the farmers that all the promises made to them by his father and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would be fulfilled by him.

The farmers also demanded that the status of martyr be granted to those killed during the agitation against acquisition of land for the Noida-Agra expressway and the JP Township projects.

The Chief Minister also said that a green belt would be developed near the now desolate tract along the Taj Corridor project in Agra.

"Akhilesh said that assent would be given to any project aimed at making the area green with dense trees," Ramsakal Gujar, a Samajwadi Party member of the Vidhan Parishad and district President, said.

"The Chief Minister also said that a barrage across the Yamuna would soon be constructed, as the project has been long delayed," he said.
