Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday accepted Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan's resignation offer following the Adarsh housing society scam.

NEW DELHI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday accepted Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan's resignation offer following the Adarsh housing society scam.

Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi confirmed that Chavan has been asked to submit his resignation to Maharashtra Governor.

Ashok Chavan had offered to resign in the wake of the Adarsh housing society scam in Mumbai.

According to sources, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and defence minister A K Antony are on Tuesday expected to submit their report on the housing scam, a day on which the Opposition is expected to raise the issue in Parliament.
