Actor Prakash Raj to contest from Bengaluru Central as independent candidate

In the run up to the May 12 Assembly polls in Karnataka, he extensively campaigned against the BJP, while not identifying himself with any political party.

BENGALURU: South Indian film star Prakash Raj on Saturday announced that he will contest the upcoming Loksabha polls from Bengaluru Central as an independent candidate.

Raj announced his decision through a Twitter post.

Prakash Raj is a busy actor in Tamil and Telugu movie industries. In the run up to the May 12 Assembly polls in Karnataka, he extensively campaigned against the BJP, while not identifying himself with any political party.




Hailing from coastal Karnataka, Raj, originally known as Prakash Rai, entered the movie industry beginning his career first as an actor in Tele serials.

Bengaluru Central is currently represented in the Lok Sabha by PC Mohan of the BJP.
