Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal joins 'Swachh Bharat' campaign

HYDERABAD: Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal participated in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' organised by oil Bharat Petroleum here today and urged everybody to actively take part in the campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Saina led a 'Walkathon' on the occasion and participated in sweeping the road during the event.

Thanking Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan nominating her as brand ambassador for the Swachh Bharat campaign, she expressed happiness for taking up the responsibility and vowed to work for the noble cause.

"Parents should inculcate the habit of cleanliness and personal hygiene in children right from a tender age," she said.

She also nominated five sports personalities including her present coach Vimal Kumar, her former coach Pullela Gopichand, her colleagues Guru Sai Dutt, Parupalli Kashyap and P V Sindhu, to carry forward the 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan,' a release from the organisers said.

Expressing happiness over her performance in 2014, during which her ranking climbed up to world number four, she hoped to do well in the coming year.
