Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday arrested an AP Transco official for possessing disproportionate assets and also conducted raids at five places in Nellore and Prakasam districts. The search operations started at 6.30 am and continued till late evening.

The raids were conducted at his house in Kavali town, his father’s house, his in-laws' places and his friends' residences.

The early estimates suggest that the official might have assets worth Rs 100 crore.


The accused, identified as 56-year-old S Lakshmi Reddy, works as a line inspector for AP Transco in Nellore district.

As per the ACB officials, Reddy has several acres of agricultural land, and luxurious houses in both districts.

Reddy had joined government service in 1993 as a helper and was promoted as an assistant lineman in 1996 and as a lineman in 1997. He was made line inspector in 2014.

The documents seized by ACB officials indicate that Redday has 57.50 acres of land, six luxurious houses, two plots, Rs 9.95 lakh bank balance and several vehicles.

Most assets, particularly land and houses, were in his wife S Subhashini’s name.
