Abraham charges against Pranab false: Finmin

NEW DELHI: The finance ministry has said all allegations made by KM Abraham, former Sebi member, against finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and his advisor are “defamatory, devoid of any truth and are a complete distortion of facts”.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, the finance ministry said that numerous complaints were received against KM Abraham from several sources, including Members of Parliament (MPs), alleging abuse of power and corruption.

The finance ministry said despite numerous complaints, it had taken not taken any action against him. “The ministry has all along taken a dispassionate view in the complaints against Dr Abraham that have even been referred to it by MPs.

It has refused to intervene in the cases where even Dr Abraham was alleged to have acted in a partisan manner,” the ministry said. “The ministry has taken a consistent stand that the aggrieved parties should take recourse to existing legal mechanisms for the redressal of their grievances ,” the statement said.
