Abdul Kalam on Israel visit

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam is on a two-day visit to Israel.

NEW DELHI: Former President A P J Abdul Kalam is on a two-day visit to Israel, during which he will call on Israeli President Shimon Peres and address an aerospace science conference. Kalam proceeded to Tel Aviv after a trip to South Korea to attend the inauguration ceremony of new President Lee Myung-bak. He also met a group of scientists and visited the Korea Institute of Sciences and Technology in Seoul.

The President will be interacting with students and faculty at the Tel Aviv University in the Israeli capital on 'Technology Convergence and National Development'. The former President, guest of honour at the 48th Israel Annual Conference on Aerospace Sciences, will deliver the keynote address on World Knowledge Platform: Aerospace Vision, a release said here today.

Kalam will be meeting members of the Indo-Israel Innovation Programme at the Sam Neaman Institute and discuss the application of innovation for realising competitiveness by Indian and Israeli establishments. Tomorrow, Kalam will call on the Israeli President. He will also visit the Weizmann Institute of Science and offer prayers at the Al-Aqsa mosque before returning to India on February 29.
