Aasu leaders meets Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu

Already JD (U) has extended support to AASU and assured to oppose the bill. JPC is likely to meet in New Delhi on Tuesday.

GUWAHATI: A delegation of All Assam Students Union (Aasu) met Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu.

AASU claimed that TDP has assured that they will oppose Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

ASSU delegation which was led by its adviser, Samujjal Bhattacharyya met Naidu. The bill aimed at making minority communities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan eligible for applying for Indian citizenship is under the consideration of Joint parliamentary committee of both the Houses.


Already JD (U) has extended support to AASU and assured to oppose the bill. JPC is likely to meet in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The committee is planning to submit the report before the winter session of Parliament which will begin on December 11.
