AAP's CM face Ajay Kothiyal to contest from Gangotri

Kothiyal, who is former principal of Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), is also known for his contribution in the reconstruction of the area around Kedarnath in the aftermath of 2013 floods.

This was announced on Wednesday by deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who was on a 2-day tour to Uttarakhand.
Col (retd) Ajay Kothiyal, who is Aam Aadmi Party’s chief ministerial face in the 2022 Uttarakhand assembly polls, will contest the assembly polls from Gagotri seat in the state’s Uttarkashi district.

This was announced on Wednesday by deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who was on a 2-day tour to Uttarakhand.

“Col (retd) Kothiyal will contest the assembly polls from Gangotri seat,” Sisodia told reporters in Uttarkashi.


Kothiyal, who is former principal of Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), is also known for his contribution in the reconstruction of the area around Kedarnath in the aftermath of 2013 floods.

The Gangotri seat was won by BJP’s Gopal Singh Rawat in the 2017 state elections and has been lying vacant since his death due to Covid-related complications in April this year.
