AAP to use geo-tagging for women safety in Delhi
“We expect women to have this system on their phone through a specific app designed for the safety of women", said AAP’s inhouse telecom expert Adarsh Shastri.

Speaking with ET, AAP’s inhouse Telecom expert and Dwarka MLA Adarsh Shastri said that the administration will use “geo tagging” technology to implement these ideas. “We expect women to have this system on their phone through a specific app designed for the safety of women. Since all phones may not have app support capabilities, a dedicated button or set of buttons (on the keypad) could be used. Through these we will try to see how we could use the system of geo-tagging, where home location, emergency contact numbers, and the woman’s location can be known only when she uses the application.
Only in situations where she uses this application geo-tagging will enable law enforcement agencies to track where she is,” Shastri said.
The former Apple employee is in-charge of the party’s ‘Governance on mobile phone’ initiative, a part of which is this mobile phone-based idea for women’s safety. He conceded that, since it does not having jurisdiction over police, this is one of the ways in which it is trying to give solution to the problem.
