AAP to go solo in Delhi Assembly polls, no alliance with Congress, confirms Gopal Rai

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday confirmed that it would fight the Assembly elections solo. Delhi Minister Gopal Rai said that the alliance with Congress was for the Lok Sabha elections and there is no alliance in the Delhi Assembly polls.

"This is clear from the very first day that the INDIA alliance was formed for Lok Sabha elections. As far as Vidhan Sabha is concerned, no alliance has been formed. AAP will fight elections with its full strength," ANI quoted Gopal Rai as saying.

In the just concluded Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won all 7 seats of Delhi. PM Modi-led saffron party contested in all seven seats, while AAP fought on 4 and Congress 3 - Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi and North West Delhi. The AAP had fielded its candidates in East Delhi, West Delhi, New Delhi, and South Delhi.
