NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the controversy surrounding the appointment of parliamentary secretaries by the Delhi government. Party’s Delhi convener Dilip Pandey criticised Modi for “accepting” parliamentary secretaries in other states, but not in Delhi. “For Modiji, parliamentary secretaries in other states are acceptable.

But in Delhi, parliamentary secretaries are unacceptable to Modiji,” Pandey said at a press conference here. When asked repeatedly about MLA Alka Lamba’s sacking as party spokesperson for conceding that transport minister Gopal Rai was removed to facilitate a ‘fair enquiry’, Pandey was evasive. “This is an internal matter for us.

Please do not connect the wrong dots, his (Rai’s) health is really not well,” insisted Pandey. On her part, Lamba dodged queries by the media on the issue. In cautiously worded tweets, Lamba said: “I am a disciplined party worker and would regret any mistake I have made unconsciously so that no damage is done to the party’s battle against corruption.” AAP officially refused to confirm or deny her sacking.
