AAP says it holds Admiral L Ramdas in high esteem and appreciates his role
NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reacted strongly to news reports suggesting that a section of its leadership is upset with party’s lokpal Admiral L Ramdas. ET had reported on Thursday that Ramdas could face heat from his colleagues in the coming days as a section of AAP leadership feels his letter lamenting differences acted as a catalyst to the public spat between leaders.

The letter was addressed to AAP’s national executive a day ahead of its meeting on February 26. Reacting to news reports, AAP released a press note on Thursday stating, “The party holds Admiral Ramdas in high esteem and appreciates his role as an impartial Lokpal, who never interfered in the party’s decision-making process nor did he ever make any attempt to take sides on any issue.”

“The party outrightly rejects all frustrated attempts to drag the name of Ramdas into controversy, which is unfortunate and against all ethics.” The statement added, “The party considers it a privilege to have been able to convince Admiral Ramdas to take over the role of its ombudsman and will be always thankful to him for having agreed to render his services for this critical role.” AAP also said that Ramdas will continue to guide the party.
