Saurabh Bhardwaj: AAP Councillors demand suspended of DC of South Zone MCD Rakesh Kumar IAS

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party workers on Monday staged a protest outside the South Delhi Deputy Commissioner's office in Green Park demanding the resignation of senior officers over the Saket building collapse, which claimed six lives.

Scores of party workers carrying placards and raising slogans, gathered outside the office of South Zone Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar demanding his resignation.

"We are here to raise the concerns of people. Illegal construction going on across the city under the BJP government. Whose responsibility was it to stop the illegal construction ongoing at the building that collapsed?," asked Ashu Thakur, AAP's MCD councillor from Chittaranjan Park area in south Delhi.

Thakur alleged that despite complaints regarding the building's purported unauthorised construction, no action was taken by the authorities.

Delhi AAP President Saurabh Bharadwaj said councilors from MCD's South Zone had surrounded the deputy commissioner's office to demand accountability.
