AAP plan to scrutinize contracts worries Congress
NEW DELHI: Congress anxiety peaked on Monday with AAP indicating that contracts awarded and works commissioned by the previous government would be scrutinized.

Party members said strict action was likely in corruption cases and they had received documents revealing ghost billing, money that has vanished from account books and irregularities in power and water billing. These relate to the period when Sheila Dikshit was CM.

Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said: "We've received documents showing bulk consumers have paid but that's not shown in the books. There is instance of power being purchased from the Rithala plant for about Rs 300 crore in the last three years even though the plant was shut in 2010."

AAP sources said there are similar problems with Delhi Jal Board connections and the facility of tanker water. Bureaucrats close to Dikshit may face anxiety as Singh said "a close eye" will be kept on them. The party that used documents accessed through RTI, to create an anti-corruption movement won't miss an opportunity to access files of the last 15 years.

However, the Aaam Admi Party explained thatthis isn't political vendetta, but more of a cleansing of the system.
