AAP officially ventures into student politcs with new wing Association of Students for Alternative Politic

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday officially launched its student wing, the Association of Students for Alternative Politics, in Delhi. The move marks the party’s formal entry into campus politics and youth engagement with a focus on what it terms “alternative politics.”

Announcing the launch, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed students and party members, asserting that the challenges India faces today stem from decades of failed governance by traditional political forces like the Congress and the BJP.

“The problems we are facing today are rooted in the politics of today—mainstream politics that has dominated for 75 years,” Kejriwal said. “What we’ve done in Delhi is alternative politics. We have ensured electricity supply round the clock for ten years. But now, just within three months of the BJP government’s control, there are power cuts again."


The three-time CM accused the saffron party of deliberately weakening the public infrastructure built by AAP during its decade-long tenure in Delhi, especially in the education and healthcare sectors. “We built world-class schools and ensured access to quality healthcare. They [the BJP] don’t want that. They have already started ruining government schools,” he added.

The newly formed student association aims to mobilize young voices around issues of education, clean politics, and public welfare. The wing is likely to work across university campuses to encourage political participation rooted in transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
