AAP no threat to BJP: Raman Singh

INDORE: Holding that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi is a "temporary alternative", Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said the nascent outfit posed no threat to BJP.

"AAP has no standing in states other than Delhi. Moreover, the AAP government in Delhi is seen only as a temporary alternative," Singh said at a function organised at Press Club here.

The Chief Minister said AAP had no organisational base in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

"BJP is the only power that can throw Congress-led UPA out of power. People are eagerly awaiting for the day when the UPA government will be dethroned," he said.

Singh, who joined the elite club of BJP chief ministers who have scored a hat trick of power after defeating Congress in recent Assembly elections, took a dig at senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi's statement that he would stay away from electoral politics for a year.

"...I think people should undertake spiritual pursuits keeping in view their advanced age," Singh said.

Responding to a query on the Naxal attack on Congress' rally in his state on May 25, Singh said, "The NIA probe report on the attack is expected soon. Many facts about this attack have not come out in open, and once they do, it will be a good thing for the country," he said.
