NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sanjeev Jha and two party supporters were breifly detained for alleged breach of code of conduct during the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) polls today.

Jha, AAP legislator from Burari constituency, and party supporters Ashish Tyagi and Neeraj Pathak were detained by police in the afternoon after they were seen wandering near Ramjas College while voting was going on. They were released within half-an-hour, said DCP (North) Madhur Verma.

Denying any breach of code of conduct, Jha told PTI, "I was not campaigning for the party. I neither had any group of students with me nor any pamphlet in my hand. Violation of model code would be if I was found campaigning on the polling day but travelling on roads is not a breach of code."

Party leaders Dilip Pandey and Rakhi Bidlan were also seen at different polling centres.

According to university norms, no political leader is allowed to visit the campus for any reason when the model code of conduct is in force.
