AAP government files interim application in Delhi HC against ACB chief Mukesh Kumar Meena

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government filed an interim application on Saturday in the Delhi High Court against the appointment of Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena as Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) chief.

The application is in the petition filed by the Delhi Government against the Ministry of Home Affairs notification.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said that Meena was currently under the scanner for an alleged hawala racket.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had written a "secret note" to the Union home ministry, mentioning alleged involvement of Mukesh Kumar Meena, the lieutenant general-appointed chief of the state Anti-Corruption Bureau, “in curtain purchase scam and Hawala racket”.

"There is a probe going on against Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Meena by Delhi ACB for hawala racket. CM Kejriwal has sent a secret note to the home ministry about it. We are waiting for response," Sisodia told the Delhi assembly on Friday. The controversial revelation comes two days after SS Yadav, the state government nominated ACB chief, wrote to the vigilance director of Delhi, alleging pressure from Meena for accessing first information report (FIR) on controversial case involving a Delhi Police official.

Yadav, an IPS officer previously with the Delhi Police, has alleged that Meena is attempting to forcibly get the agency’s FIR book, especially, it is alleged, to peruse one FIR concerning the corruption case involving one Delhi Police official.
