AAP bubble will burst sooner than later in Punjab: Amarinder Singh
GURDASPUR: Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bubble will burst sooner than later in the state.

Amarinder said the AAP was only a hype with virtually nothing on ground except "a bunch of rejected and worn out leaders" from other parties.

"The AAP does not have any policy, programme or leader and they cannot go on to win elections by merely abusing everybody," he said.

Stating that AAP or the SAD-BJP combine were no challenge to Congress, Amarinder said he was convinced that his party will storm to power with a record majority in 2017 assembly elections.

The former Punjab chief minister was here to pay homage to two martyrs in Pathankot terror attack Captain Fateh Singh in Jhanda Gujaran and Subedar Kulwant Singh in Chak Sahrif village.

Amarinder, also the deputy leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, said he did not expect much to come out from the inquiry commission constituted by Pakistan to probe the Pathankot terror attack since officials from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), which controls Jaish-e-Mohammed, the militant outfit suspected of the strike, were part of the joint investigative team.

However, he added that there was no way out for the two countries other than dialogue for permanent peace on the border.

The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committe president was accompanied by campaign committee chairperson Ambika Soni, general secretary in charge Shakeel Ahmad, secretary in charge Harish Chaudhary, CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi, former PCC president Partap Singh Bajwa among others.

In his tributes to the martyred soldiers, he said Gurdaspur area had a great tradition and history of valour and gallantry as so many soldiers had laid down their lives in earlier wars also.

He also assured support to the bereaved families of the two soldiers.

Further training guns at AAP, he said the party was "vertically divided" in Punjab, in desperation it was hunting leaders from other parties only to end up taking all the rejected political deadwood from other parties.

AAP, he said, was certainly going to meet the same fate as that of the People's Party of Punjab in 2011 as he recalled the hype it had created back then but failed to win on a single seat.

Hitting out on the ruling Akali Dal, Amarinder said the party was filled with so much resentment that it may not even find candidates to field from various constituencies.
