AAP blames Delhi Police for deteriorating law and order
NEW DELHI: Continuing their face-off, the AAP today blamed the Delhi Police for the deteriorating law and order situation in the national Capital, citing the recent murder of a teenage girl.

"In the past few weeks several incidents of crime against women have been reported. Most of them being heinous in nature and most of it against women.

"The news of a teenage girl stabbed to death by her molesters while police refused to lodge a complaint by the parents is a shocking incident which has brought to light the inefficiency and indifference of the Delhi Police towards protecting people of Delhi," AAP's Delhi state convener Dilip Pandey told a press conference here.

A 19-year-old girl was stabbed to death on Thursday, allegedly by two brothers after she protested their verbally abusing her in Anand Parbat area in central Delhi.

Pandey said the Central government is busy in number juggling.

"It can change the number of farmer's death by changing the criteria. In the same way, it is fudging the crime rate in Delhi as well. There is an increase of almost 25 percent cases of rape and around 18 percent in total crime against women in the year 2014," he added.

The party also threatened agitation against Delhi Police over the issue.

"We demand severe punishment against the policemen found guilty of atrocities and crime against women. The party will be forced to take up an agitational path against the Delhi Police if it fails to restrain and punish its men unleashing crime against women in Delhi," said party's women wing head and MLA Bhavna Gaur.

Reiterating its demand for full statehood to the National Capital and direct control of the Delhi Police and law and order responsibly in the hands of the Delhi government, Pandey said, "The police force will continue to be exploited by the their masters in the central government for their political gains," Pandey added.
