AAP activists in Punjab and Chandigarh celebrate party win
CHANDIGARH: Buoyed by AAP's massive lead in Delhi Assembly elections, scores of party activists today distributed sweets and held celebratory marches across Punjab and Chandigarh.

In Chandigarh, the party activists burst crackers, distributed sweets and also held celebratory marches while in neighbouring Punjab, they distributed saplings at various locations.

They also distributed food and clothes to the needy, books and stationery material to students, AAP state unit leader Ahbaab Singh Grewal said.

'Thank-you' messages for everyone who supported the party during the election campaign were also sent to mark the occasion.

"Our volunteers have given their precious time, energy and resources towards the Delhi Assembly elections," another party leader said.

Recently, in the Lok Sabha polls where BJP had swept the country, the AAP had managed to open its account from Punjab.

The party, which had fought its maiden Lok Sabha polls recently, won four seats from Punjab.

Meanwhile, All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) congratulated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on the party's victory and sought BJP national President Amit Shah's resignation on "moral grounds" for the saffron party's "dismal" performance in the national capital.

AISSF head Karnail Singh exuded confidence that Kejriwal will give justice to families of 1984 riot victims.

"The victory is a crushing defeat of communal forces like BJP and RSS," he said.

"AAP is the only party that can defeat the nefarious designs of BJP-RSS combine," Singh said.

The AISSF also urged Akal Takhat, the top temporal seat of Sikhs, to direct Shiromani Akali DAl (SAD), which is an ally of the BJP at the Centre and in Punjab, to breakway from the saffron party.

"The SGPC and SAD should breakway its ties with communal forces like BJP supported by RSS," he said.
