He said no politician should be in the panel and suggested that it should have four judges and four independent constitutional authorities.
The Team Anna's bill proposes a selection committee of two politicians, four judges and two independent constitutional authorities. While government's draft has a selection team that comprises six out of 10 members directly from the ruling establishment. Khan was responding to a questionnaire sent by Team Anna on key issues on the Lokpal bill that was sent to 250 people.
The actor also supported setting up of a Lokayukta in states, and merging of the anti-corruption branch of CBI with the Lokpal.
He felt that the Lokpal should not be under government's control and that he should be accountable to the people of the country, a release issued by India Against Corruption said. Khan said the Lokpal should be empowered to remove corrupt public/government servants. And the Lokpal should also be responsible for protection of whistleblowers and witnesses.
