Aam Aadmi Party to begin signature campaign from tomorrow
NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will begin its signature campaign from tomorrow demanding fresh election in Delhi, the party announced today.

The campaign will be launched from the Patparganj assembly constituency by AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, party's Delhi convenor Ashutosh and state unit secretary Dilip Pandey. The party has decided to cover all the 70 assembly constituencies during the next fortnight.

AAP will also distribute signature forms along with a message from party chief Arvind Kejriwal explaining the reasons behind conducting elections in the National Capital which has been without a government ever since he quit as the Chief Minister in February this year.

The campaign is also the party's attempt to reach out to people like it did during Delhi assembly election -- something which it could not do during the Lok Sabha election. The party drew a blank in Delhi in the Lok Sabha election.

In a show-of strength rally at Jantar Mantar on August 3, Kejriwal had given a week's time to the Centre to dissolve the Delhi assembly, which would then pave the way for fresh election in Delhi, failing which the party would launch a door-to-door and signature campaign.

"The AAP has also decided to expose the BJP's doublespeak on full statehood of Delhi during its campaign.

"On the one hand, its central government is curtailing powers of critical anti-graft mechanism, Delhi's Anti Corruption Branch and on the other hand, it is indulging in gimmicks of floating balloons like full statehood," the party said.
