Aam Aadmi Party ex-MLA assaulted babus, says BJP's Karan Singh Tanwar

NEW DELHI: In a clear bid to regain his lost territory, senior BJP member Karan Singh Tanwar on Wednesday levelled allegations against former AAP MLA from Delhi Cantonment, Commando Surender Singh, of manhandling and threatening officials at the executive magistrate's office. Though the incident took place in September, Tanwar claimed that police did not register an FIR against Singh despite a complaint from officials.

"He used abusive language and threatened officials. The staff had given a written complaint to the local police, but till date no action has been taken. I have written to home minister Rajnath Singh to look into the matter. He manhandled people while he was an MLA," said Tanwar, who released the CCTV footage of the incident. In the footage, Singh is seen pushing a person out the office.

Tanwar claimed that Delhi Cantonment's executive magistrate Nathu Ram had filed a complaint at the area police station on September 23, when the incident took place. He alleged that Singh got hundreds of bogus ration cards and voter IDs issued during his term as MLA of Delhi Cantt.

Singh, however, has rubbished the claims. He said, "I spoke to the district magistrate and the matter was settled there and then. People had complaining to me that touts and officials ask for money to make ration cards and issue OBC certificates. I had gone there to check the system. The person I had pushed was not a government employee. I don't know why Tanwar has raised the matter now."
