AAI employees union slams Civil Aviation ministry's stand
Airports Authority Employees' Union slammed the Civil Aviation Ministry's stand that contractual obligations binds it to close down existing airports in Bangalore and Hyderbad after the new ones there begin commercial operations.
"It is evident that closing of Bangalore and Hyderabad airports is absolutely not in public interest but only for private interest", the Employees Joint Forum Convener and Bangalore Branch Secretary Stanley Sampath Kumar said in a statement here.
The ministry has not spelt out the reasons for signing such an agreement which stipulates "killing" of PSUs for the benefit of the private operators, he said.
He flayed Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel's statement that under the concession agreements signed with private-led joint ventures companies, the government is obliged to close down all commercial operations of existing airports once the new ones becomes operational.
The government should explain in Parlimaent the reasons and motives behind signing such an agreement which is not in public interest, Kumar said.
