A new ‘United India’ government will “put an end to terrorism and bring peace back in Kashmir”, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said here on Friday.

“The United India government will be people’s government,” she said while addressing a Trinamool Congress rally to celebrate International Women’s Day. “We will have new policies to bring peace back in Kashmir. We will put an end to terrorism. This is my promise to the nation.”

Attacking the Narendra Modi government, Banerjee said its “expiry date” has come. “Nothing was done in last five years,” she alleged. “Before elections , Modi babu is showing new missiles and trying to play war games. But these tactics will not help you win election. You are here for a month.”

The Trinamool Congress supremo yet again blamed the Centre for the Pulwama terror attack and questioned the timing of the air strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camp in Pakistan.

“Modi government had all information prior to the attacks in Kashmir,” she alleged. “But it sat on all intelligence inputs and let people die in Pathankot, Uri and Pulwama. What did they do in five years? Why did they not think about strikes in Pakistan in last five years? So many people died and so many families lost their near and dear ones.”
