Just a week after the month-long imbroglio over the oath taking of two Trinamool MLAs ended, a fresh row seems to be brewing amid apprehensions over the oath taking of four newly-elected Trinamool MLAs who won the recent bypolls in West Bengal.

Assembly Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay said on Monday that the process of oath taking has been initiated for the new Trinamool MLAs and a letter will be sent to the Governor, urging him to authorise the Speaker to administer the oath.

"Otherwise, oaths will be administered during the upcoming assembly session like other parts of the country in case of mid-term polls," the Speaker said. "Whether the Governor follows the convention and asks the Speaker to administer the oath or not remains to be seen...," the Speaker said.
