A dozen government officials arrested by Karnataka Lokayukta over unaccounted wealth
A statewide raid yielded unaccounted wealth totalling 14 crore.

P Narayana Murthy , a deputy secretary at Bangalore Development Authority and Laxmappa Bimappa Nilogal, executive director, Karnataka State Finance Corporation, are among the officers who were questioned in 14 cities.
BM Vijay Shankar, an IAS officer posted as director of the Department of Women, who was also named as an accused in the case, was legally exonerated by the courts. He has been cleared of all charges.
Murthy, who was appointed in 1980, and drew a pay of Rs 39,000, was found with Rs 2 crore worth assets and Rs 71 lakh income.In Nilogal's case, sleuths found unaccounted property of Rs 2.87 crore although his income was Rs 85 lakh.
The others are: G Ramesh Babu, district health officer, Ballari; Ashok Kumar Manikappa Akkanna, FDA, women and child development, Yadgir; SC Padmaraju, district programming officer, women and child development, Chikkaballapur; Martanda Shivappa Badiger, junior assistant, KIADB, Dharwad; Kashinath Siddaramayya Bidarkar, AEE, KIADB, Kalburgi; MS Siddegowda, kasaba village accountant, Mandya; KN Padmanabha, junior engineer, Mulky town panchayat, Mangaluru; KS Chandrashekar, AEE, NHAI, Chikamagalur; C Vijayakumar, revenue inspector, kasaba hobli, Shivamogga, and Thimmaiah, junior assistant, Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, Tiptur, Tumakuru.
