'93 blasts: Sanjay Dutt surrenders

Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case, received his judgement copy on Monday afternoon and was remanded to judicial custody by the Special TADA court.

MUMBAI: Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case, received his judgement copy on Monday afternoon and was remanded to judicial custody by the Special TADA court.

Dutt, who was out on bail received the copy of the judgement following which he surrendered before the TADA court.

Earlier on Saturday, he had got a minor reprieve as he did not receive his judgement copy, because it was not ready then.

However, court had handed over the 4,340-page judgement to 13 convicts, including 10 who have been awarded death sentence, that day.

Dutt, who was sentenced to six-year rigorous imprisonment on July 31, had spent a few weeks in Pune's Yerawada jail before being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court.

The apex court, while granting him bail, had instructed him to surrender once he received a copy of the judgement.
