9,000 cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes received by NCSC till May: Vijay Sampla
NEW DELHI: Around 9,000 cases regarding atrocities committed against Scheduled Castes were received by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) till May this year.

In his reply to a question in Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla said that 9,405 cases were received by the NCSC offices located across the country till May this year, of which Tamil Nadu and Puducherry alone accounted for 5,253 cases.

The minister was furnishing details of the complaints received, investigated and decided by the NCSC in its headquarters and state offices, regarding atrocities against the Scheduled Castes.

While the number of cases received in 2014-15 was 9,728, it was 602 during 2013-14, the data said.
