84 Kosi Yatra: ‘Will Face Bullets But Won’t Stop’
LUCKNOW: The VHP has said that it would go ahead with the ‘ 84 Kosi Yatra’, a day after the UP government imposed a ban on it. Former BJP MP RV Vedanti said the yatra would be held as proposed from August 25 to September 13.

“The yatra will not be stopped. We will face bullets and lathis but will not back out and ensure that the yatra is carried out. We will not stop saints coming from across the country to participate in the yatra,” Vedanti said.

Backing VHP, UP state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpaye said: “Let me inform the government that the 84 Kosi Yatra can be held anytime of the year. The government has only banned the yatra to appease a section of the population.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his senior minister Shivpal Yadav, however, vowed that the ban on the yatra would be strictly implemented.
