753 Army personnel martyred in Operation Rakshak during 8 years in Jammu and Kashmir
NEW DELHI: A total of 753 Army personnel have been martyred during the last eight years in Operation Rakshak, the counter-insurgency operation of the Army in Jammu and Kashmir, Lok Sabha was informed today.

The worst period for the Army in the state since 2007 has been the year itself when it lost 172 personnel, figures given by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Lok Sabha showed.

The casualty figure dipped to 73 in 2009 but rose in 2010 with 107 personnel killed.

In 2013 and 2014, the figure stood at 51 and 54 respectively. In 2015, 7 Army personnel have lost their lives till April 20, according to the written reply.
