7,000 voters from a single building added to electoral rolls in Shirdi: Rahul Gandhi alleges fraud in Maharashtra elections

Congress MP and Lok Sabha leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi today questioned the Maharashtra assembly election results during a Lok Sabha debate. He highlighted a significant rise in registered voters between the Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Maharashtra.

“Almost 70 lakh new voters were added to Maharashtra's electoral rolls between Lok Sabha and assembly elections. That's as much as the population of Himachal Pradesh. In a single building in Shirdi, over 7,000 voters were added. There is something problematic in all this,” said Gandhi.

Gandhi pointed out that nearly 7 million voters were added to the state's voter lists. He compared this increase to Himachal Pradesh's total population. He also cited a specific instance in Shirdi where a single building reportedly added over 7,000 voters. He expressed concern over these figures. The Maharashtra assembly elections concluded recently.


"Just prior to the Lok Sabha the election commissioner was changed and two new were placed. These are facts not things that I am changing. The entire opposition requests the data for the Maharashtra elections. And I am confident that the EC will not give us this data," Rahul said.
