6,500 paramilitary personnel deployed for TN bypoll

TIRUCHIRAPPALLI: About 6500 paramilitary personnel are keeping strict vigil in Srirangam that goes to polls on February 13,officials said.

EVMs are being kept ready for the bypoll where 29 candidates, including AIADMK's S Valarmathi, DMK's N Anand, BJP's M Subramaniam and CPI-M's K Annadurai, are in the fray.

The bypoll was necessitated to fill the vacancy caused by the disqualification of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa following her conviction in an assets case.
