625 more low-floor buses coming for DTC

Delhi government today decided to procure 625 low-floor buses for DTC in the next six months at a cost of Rs 330 crore.

NEW DELHI: Delhi government today decided to procure 625 low-floor buses for DTC in the next six months at a cost of Rs 330 crore.

The addition of the new fleet will take the number of low-floor buses of Delhi Transport Corporation to 4,406 from current 3,781.

The decision to procure the new buses was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

The buses are being procured to replace DTC's old buses which have completed their prescribed mileage of five lakh kilometres. Currently, DTC is running 1,742 old buses.

"We have decided to procure 625 low-floor buses to strengthen DTC's existing fleet," Dikshit said.

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said the buses will be procured within next six months and each of them will cost around Rs 52.78 lakh.
