61 held in Assam for chain-pulling to evade quarantine

GUWAHATI: Around 61 passengers were arrested for pulling the chain of a train in order to evade the quarantine.

The train had come from Mumbai. A senior police official said, “56 passengers were arrested in Hojai by Railway Protection Force (RPF) while others were arrested by Assam Police in coordination with Government Railway Police Force (GRPF).”

According to Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) more than 80 Shramik Special trains already reached North eastern states. Nearly 125000 stranded people from all North eastern states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland arrived in stations located in Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam under NFR.


NFR added, “About 10 such Shramik Special trains will be arriving in the coming days in these states with stranded people spreading throughout the country. 26 Shramik Special trains have also originated from various North-eastern states under the jurisdiction of NFR to carry stranded people from these states to their native places”.
