60% of CAA events done, BJP readies for big UP outreach

New Delhi: BJP President Amit Shah has done three rallies while four more are lined up even as the party has held 61 of 99 rallies and other outreach events planned in support of the CAA. BJP sources told ET that the remaining 38 programmes will be done till January 26. These rallies were addressed by several national and state leaders, including party President Amit Shah and working president JP Nadda.

Shah has done three rallies as of now, in Shimla, Jodhpur and Delhi. BJP working president JP Nadda has done four rallies, in Indore, Kolkata and Guwahati and Panaji. Besides, the planned 4 rallies, Shah may also address a rally in Mangalore, but the date for the same has not been decided yet.

BJP is yet to start a mass contact programme in UP. It is planning six mega rallies, starting from the one on January 18 in Varanasi. It has divided UP into six areas, namely Kashi, Gorakhpur, Awadh, Kanpur, UP West and Braj region and will hold one rally in each region from January 18-23. BJP leader and in-charge of Varanasi Sunil Oza was in Delhi on Wednesday to finalise the programme of January 18.
