Police recovered six unexploded bombs in Mumbai on Wednesday as thousands gathered on the streets to celebrate the home-return of Team India.

MUMBAI: Police recovered six unexploded bombs in Mumbai on Wednesday as thousands gathered on the streets to celebrate the home-return of Team India after winning the Twenty20 world title.

"These were live, country-made bombs ... but not of high intensity," a crime branch official told media, asking not to be named.

"One person has been arrested in connection with this," he added. Police did not directly link the bombs to the celebrations, but the city was on high alert.

Huge crowds turned out to welcome the team along a 30-km from the airport to the Wankhede cricket stadium.

The crude bombs were found in the Andheri.

Serial bomb blasts shook Mumbai in 1993 killing 257 people. In July, 2006, another string of bombings targeting commuters and blamed on terrorist killed 186 people
