595 persons file nominations for 2nd phase of Assam poll

GUWAHATI: In all 595 persons, including Congress leaders Nilamani Sen Deka, Rakibul Hussain and Chandan Sarkar, have filed their nominations for the second phase of Assembly poll in Assam on April 11.

380 persons across 61 constituencies have filed their nominations today, taking the total tally in these constituencies to 595, an Election Department Spokesperson said.

For the second phase of polling on April 11, the notification was issued on March 15.

The scrutiny of these nominations will be done on March 24 and the last date for withdrawing the same will be March 26.

For the first phase of polling on April 4 for the 65 constituencies, nominations of 586 candidates were found valid, while 13 were rejected.

In the first phase, 561 candidates are in the contest for the 65 seats out of a 126-seat Assembly.
