55 bandhs since 2009 caused over 1000 man hour loss: NGO

ITANAGAR: Altogether 55 bandhs since 2009 in Arunachal Pradesh have caused losses of over one thousand man hours and over Rs 3000 crore in the state domestic product, according to a statement by Itanagar-based NGO.
Compiling data of bandhs called by various students' organizations and associations, most of which were confined to Itanagar and Naharlagun, the Arunachal Citizens Right (ACR) claimed that 1068 hours were lost due to bandhs since 2009.
The NGO also said financial losses incurred due to the 55 bandhs have resulted in the loss of Rs 3431.73 crore in terms of state domestic product, adjusted to inflation.
Besides these, ACR said 12 vehicles have been burnt while 41 have been partially damaged during these bandhs.
A ruling by the Supreme Court in 1997 had stated that "in the name of hartal or bandh or strike, no person has any right to cause inconvenience to any other person", it said,
